We present at the 8th International CADS 2026

Our InterGedi members Dr Rosa Lorés, Dr Daniel Pascual, Dr Pilar Mur-Dueñas and Dr Paula Wood-Borque participated the 8th Corpora and Discourse International Conference (CADS 2026), held at Lancaster University (UK) on the 23rd, 24th and 25th of June 2026. This conference brought together research sitting at the intersection of Corpus Linguistics and Discourse Analysis on a wide range of thematic axes (e.g. academic, scientific, technological, medical discourse(s); ethical dilemma; translation studies; multimodality).

The programme included over 100 participants contributing paper and poster presentations, as well as four plenaries, delivered by Matteo Fuoli (University of Birmingham), Brian King (University of Hong Kong), Michaela Mahlberg (Friedrich-Alexander-Universität) and Elena Semino (Lancaster University).


Dr Daniel Pascual delivered a paper on the first day of the conference, Tuesday 23rd. His presentation was titled Explanatory processes in expert discourse: A view on Ask-an-Expert websites across disciplinary fields. You can find out more about it here.

On the same day, Dr Rosa Lorés presented her work titled “5 skin cancer-care tools you should look out for”: A pragmalinguistic analysis of clickbaiting practices in digital scientific dissemination”. To read about her presentation, click here.

On Thursday 25th, Dr Paula Wood-Borque delivered her co-paper with Dr Pilar Mur-Dueñas, which was titled “Filmic discourse: From corpus analysis to the English as a Foreign Language classroom”. Have a look at there abstract here.
