InterGedi researchers participate in the VI SEING 2026

The 6th edition of the doctoral Seminar in English Studies (SEING 2026) was hosted last May the 8th 2026 and had the following motto: “Research as Resistance in a World at Odds”. This seminar takes place biannually and was organised by the following sponsoring institutions at UNIZAR: the Department of English and German Philology, Instituto Universitario de Investigación en Empleo, Sociedad Digital y Sostenibilidad (IEDIS), Vicerrectorado de Política Científica and Escuela de Doctorado. This edition’s keynote speeches were delivered by Luis M. García-Mainar (University of Zaragoza) and Paula Martín (University of Córdoba). Some of our members participated through individual presentations and in the roundtable. The book of abstracts as well as the full programme of the seminar are available online.

The morning panel on Linguistics was themed around “Digital science, communication and recontextualization”. Here, Ana E. Sancho-Ortiz presented her oral paper titled “From instruction to self-branding on social media health communication: A qualitative exploration of expert identity on Instagram through visual post design”. Afterwards, Luis Martínez-Kleiser contributed to the same panel by delivering his presentation about “Recontextualization of scientific knowledge in adolescent-oriented digital texts: Analysis of discursive and multimodal strategies and implications for the EFL classroom“. You can read about his paper here.

To wrap up, the seminar concluded with a postgraduate roundtable in which InterGedi members Daniel Pascual and Paula Wood-Borque participated. The roundtable speakers shared their past PhD experiences and discussed issues regarding work-life balance, time management and networking opportunities, amongst others, providing valuable advice to doctoral candidates.

We are looking forward to the next SEING edition in 2028!
