SCIENCE STRIKES BACK: OUR TEAM PARTICIPATES IN THE RESEARCH FAIR IN PLAZA DEL PILAR (ZARAGOZA)

Last weekend, our InterGedi research group, represented by Rosa Lorés, Pilar Mur-Dueñas, Isabel Herrando-Rodrigo, Silvia Murillo-Ornat, Ana E. Sancho-Ortiz and Alba Ansó-Millán, participated in the Research Fair hosted in Plaza del Pilar (Zaragoza) to celebrate the European Researchers’ Night. Coinciding with the XV Training Day, the motto of this open-for-all transfer event, “Science Strikes Back”, aimed to bring the Star Wars and the research galaxies together and closer to citizens of all ages.

This public dissemination initiative was organised by Dirección General de Ciencia e Investigación (Gobierno de Aragón), in coordination with the University of Zaragoza and Delegación en Aragón del Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Científicas and in collaboration with Zaragoza Cultural (Ayuntamiento de Zaragoza). Over 30 Aragonese research centres gathered, to give visibility and share their research undertakings with the wider public, offering a programme full of activities from all areas of knowledge.

We contributed to this event by taking part in the Humanities stand of the IEDIS, which was up and running both in the evening of Friday the 26th, and during the morning and evening sessions on Saturday the 27th, September 2025. We designed a set of activities geared towards different age groups and which were based on a sample of selected texts from our SciDis database.

It gave us great pleasure to talk to everyone who came up, willing to know more about our research interests and work. Moreover, we were very happy to see that our activities met with such a warm and enthusiastic reception, particularly from the young!

Looking forward to future occasions where we can keep showing that we research linguistics, so we are also scientists!
