Pilar Mur-Dueñas will be a keynote speaker in Brno

Our team member Dr. Pilar Mur-Dueñas will deliver a plenary talk at the 10th Brno Conference on Linguistic Studies in English, which will be held at the Faculty of Education of the Mazarykova Univerzita (Brno, Czech Republic) the days 4th-5th September 2023. 

In her talk, titled “Scientists’ digital dissemination  practices: A look into the recontextualization of specialised knowledge”, Pilar Mur-Dueñas will share how our research in SciDis explores discursive and communicative phenomena used in digital scientific dissemination processes. She will also present our SciDis database and preliminary findings corresponding to both author-generated and writer-mediated knowledge dissemination practices in web hosted platforms in Economy. 

Her paper will have three aims: (1) to focus on research that discloses digital practices that scientists use to disseminate knowledge globally; (2) to identify and explore the affordances of digital media for recontextualising specialised knowledge, and (3) to illustrate through our ScDis corpus how explanatory and engagement strategies are used.
