Irene Puente Gil
I am a PhD student in English Studies at the University of Zaragoza. My research is situated at the intersection of discourse analysis, corpus linguistics, and digital science communication. I am particularly interested in how expert knowledge in nutrition, sports, and women's health is recontextualized for non-specialist audiences in digital environments, and in the linguistic strategies through which communicators construct expertise, credibility, and trust.
My academic and professional background combines English language teaching, bilingual education, and nutrition. Over the past ten years, I have worked in English language education across primary and university contexts, primarily as a Primary English teacher and bilingual program coordinator, and more recently at the Faculty of Human Sciences and Education of the University of Zaragoza. I hold a Master's degree in Bilingual Education and Content and Language Integrated Learning (CLIL), as well as postgraduate training in women's health, exercise, and nutrition.
I am currently pursuing my PhD while working as a sports dietitian, supporting individual athletes and professional and semi-professional sports teams. My interdisciplinary background has shaped my interest in the communication of specialized knowledge and, more specifically, in how scientific information about health, nutrition, and sports is adapted for wider audiences.
My research interests include discourse analysis, corpus linguistics, expert knowledge dissemination and digital health communication.
