Prof Engberg, international member of InterGedi, comes to Zaragoza as part of our two-way collaboration

Last week, between Wednesday the 5th and Friday the 7th of November 2025, we had the pleasure of hosting Professor Jan Engberg, one of our international member collaborators. He is a Full Professor of Knowledge Communication at the School of Communication and Culture at Aarhus Universitet (Denmark), where he trains students to use German as a language for international business communication as well as subjects related to legal and economic translation, amongst others. His theoretical and empirically-based approach to knowledge communication and his research focus on the study of specialised communication both between peers and in expert–non-expert settings is closely connected with our research interests at InterGedi.

On the day of his arrival, Wednesday 5th, we scheduled an evening group meeting with the whole InterGedi team to hear about the research project that Prof Jan Engberg is currently undertaking. His talk, titled “Knowledge in and from Specialized Communication”, was extremely thought-provoking and made us reflect on different methodological and theoretical approaches that are being applied at present to investigate how knowledge is distributed and shared in discipline-internal and discipline-external communication.

In the morning of Thursday the 6th, some of our InterGedi members had one-to-one sessions with Prof Engberg to tell him about our individual projects and to seek his advice. In the afternoon of the same day, our principal investigators Dr Rosa Lorés and Dr Pilar Mur-Dueñas had a very fruitful working session with him to discuss and make some progress towards our next project report.

We would like to thank Prof Jan Engberg for being so generous with his time and feedback. It is always a delight to be able to enhance our international, two-way collaboration. See you soon!
