I am a full professor in the Department of English and German Studies at the Faculty of Arts, Universidad de Zaragoza (Spain). My research has mainly focused on the exploration of discursive and lexicogrammatical features in written academic genres from the standpoint of intercultural rhetoric and the use of English as a Lingua Franca, as well as on pragmatic approaches to the study of translation. My present research interests revolve around the study of digital practices within scientific communities. I have published my research in various international journals such as English for Specific Purposes, Text and Talk, Journal of English as a Lingua Franca and Discourse, Context & Media, among others. I have co-edited four books on pragmatics and translation and on written academic discourse. More recently I have co-edited two special issues on scientific digital communication: Disseminating Knowledge (European Journal of English Studies, 2020) and Scientific and Parascientific Communication (Publications, 2022).
I am co-coordinating the national project “Processes of recontextualisation in the transfer of knowledge: A pragmatic, linguistic and multimodal study of digital scientific discourse for dissemination purposes (SciDis)” (PID2021-122303NB-100). I am a member of the research group CIRES (Intercultural Communication and Societal Challenges), financed by the Government of Aragon and of the Research Institute of Employment, Digital Society and Sustainability (IEDIS).
