Suganthi John
I am a Professor of English Language in the Department of English Language and Linguistics at the University of Birmingham. I have taught at universities in Singapore and Birmingham at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. The primary focus of my research is on theories of identity in academic discourse and linguistic representations (namely self-representation) of identity in academic texts. My other interests include advanced academic literacy and English for research publication purposes. I have been involved in a number of research projects with collaborators from the University of Barcelona (which has led to workshops on scientific academic writing for research scientists and medical professionals) and the University of Zaragoza.
