Seminar to learn how to use NVivo and make the most of our data qualitatively

Yesterday, 15th November, we had a research group meeting to get to know the NVivo software tool. It was truly a pleasure that Dr. Elena Goñi Osácar, who had used NVivo for her own investigations, gave the seminar and could answer all our questions. We are grateful that she accepted our invitation because of the input and the feedback that we now have.

In general,  NVivo will contribute to storing web-generated content and digital information from the genre repertoire of the H2020 research projects, and most importantly from the project websites that make up our EuroPROW corpus. Apart from that, the software will enable us to carry out systematic and consistent annotation, for different sorts of analyses and also collaboratively, which sounds promising to save efforts and share experiences.

InterGedi exploring NVivo at the seminar

All in all, we had the impression that NVivo may be one more resource in our set of tools to try to establish discursive and rhetorical patterns more efficiently about scientific digital communication at international settings. It will surely help us a lot to qualitatively analyse interpersonality and identity in international scientific communication.

Naturally, there is much to discover yet, but the meeting was certainly the starting point of what we can do to enhance our research procedures. InterGedi thanks you again, Elena!
