IX BIFI National Conference Tools for a future research career

Dr Ramón Plo-Alastrué was invited to give a student workshop in the IX BIFI National Conference Tools for a future research career held at the Instituto Universitario de Investigación de Biocomputación y Física de Sistemas Complejos, Universidad de Zaragoza (Spain), January 30 – February 1, 2019.

The main objectives of this practical workshop were to:

• provide PhD candidates in Biology/Biochemistry with a review of the adequate skills for effective oral communication in English at an advanced level in their discipline.
• analyse some social and cultural rules of the academic setting and the specific conventions of the oral presentation as a monologic/dialogic genre.
• discuss some specific problems students may face when giving a talk in another language and develop their critical thinking abilities.
